Director/Editor/Owner
Paul picked up his first camera, a Sony Betamovie, in 1984 and began making short films with the kids of some family friends while the adults drank and reminisced. It was this experience at age 7 that got him hooked on filmmaking. Paul received a B.S. in Broadcast Production from Northern Arizona University and after a short stint in news started teaching film and video production which led him to his current job as the Media Communications Instructor at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, AZ.
Paul's biggest influences come from a wide variety of places including Punk Rock from the 1970's-1990's, Ska/Skin subculture, 60's modernism, pop-culture, and cult films. Paul's biggest inspiration is the iconic 1980's writer/director John Hughes. "The effect he had not only on cinema, but on pop culture in general is huge…" says Hoeprich.
Paul has lead Catbrain to a myriad of awards since it's inception in 2006, and Hoeprich plans to lead Catbrain on to bigger and better things including a feature film, and longer-form short films.
